Mayan Wind Fest tournament

Havana, Jan 14 (JIT) - The Cuban sailing team that will attend the Mayan Wind Fest tournament in Cancun, Mexico, leaves today for the venue of the event, a qualifier for the Junior Pan American Games of Asuncion 2025.

Lisbetzi Rojo Salazar (ICLA 6 class), Rafael Osorio Durán (ILCA 7), Elizabeth Buchillon Lorenzo (IQ-FOIL), and Miguel Ángel Díaz Abat (IQ-FOIL), are part of the delegation led by national commissioner of the discipline, Anayansi Pérez.

The Antillean representative of the Kite Foil class, Adriano Castro Ortiz, along with his coach Darien Ramirez, arrived in Mexico last week, according to what the trainer published in his social networks.

The competition grants quotas to the continental youth competition that will take place from January 16 to 19. The first day will be dedicated to registration and practice races.

The team from the Greater Antilles has been preparing intensely since last December for the important competition, considered the largest dinghy sailing and nautical sports competition held in Mexico.

On the beaches of Puerto Cancun, three places will be disputed in ILCA 7 and the same number in ILCA 6, four tickets will be made available to the specialists in iQFOiL -two for each sex- and there will also be four places to be discussed in the Kite formula.

The Mayan Windfest will be a unique opportunity for emerging talent to showcase their sailing skills. The event will also serve to evaluate the competitive level of each nation in preparation for the junior continental competition in its second edition.
