Barcelona, Jan 15 (RHC) - Barcelona defeated Real Betis 5-1 today at the Lluís Companys Olympic Stadium, advancing to the quarterfinals of Spanish football's Copa del Rey.
The Azulgranas, coming off a 4-0 win over Barbastro in the last round of the tournament and motivated by their recent Supercopa title, gave the little rivals no respite and continued their run for the new trophy.
German coach Hansi Flick's side opened the scoring when Gavi broke the deadlock three minutes into the game - the fastest goal scored by the team in the Copa del Rey for 13 years - and extended the lead with Jules Koundé's goal in the 27th minute.
In the second half, the Culés showed their strength with goals from Raphinha, phenom Lamine Yamal, and Ferran Torres, while Los Beticos made up for a well-taken penalty from Vitor Roque.
In other matches, Getafe beat Pontevedra 1-0 and Leganés beat Almería 3-2.
