CONCACAF U-17 Women's Tournament
Havana, Jan 30 (JIT) - The second victory for the Cuban soccer team in the CONCACAF U-17 Women's Tournament 2025 came by way of a goal.
This time the Cubans showed no mercy against Turks and Caicos Islands. They beat 5-0 the team that seems to be the weakest in Group C, which also shares with Guyana and Panama, and is hosted by the Dominican Republic.
Suneris Borrego opened the account in the 10th minute, on penalty, and just before the break Marianelys Reyes put the second on the scoreboard.
Just a minute into the second half, the referee awarded another penalty kick, again taken by Suneris to make it 3-0 and add a brace to her personal tally.
Reyes followed with another goal in the 82nd minute and Yaricelis López joined the scoring party in the 85th minute to make the final score.
The scoreline reflected the Cubans' superiority in all aspects of the game and assured them of at least six points to advance to the next phase.
To do so directly, they will have to beat Panama in their next game, although a +6 differential puts them in a good position to opt for one of the two tickets to the best second places if necessary.
However, a win in that game is a must, given that the Isthmians have a +9 advantage and a game against Guyana, presumably a less strong team.
