Havana, Feb 16 (RHC) Cuban Ronniel Iglesias, 71 kilograms (kg), will be on the bill of the Night of Boxing Champions in Moscow, Russia, on March 7.

The organizers also announced his opponent, the host Yury Osipov, in a six-round bout, reported Radio Rebelde's Luis Izquierdo.

Initially, the event was scheduled for January 31 in the Cuban capital, to be held at the Ciudad Deportiva Coliseum, but the International Boxing Association (IBA) unexpectedly decided to change the venue.

For the Havana professional boxing event, the captain of the Domadores, Julio Cesar La Cruz (92 kg), double Olympic titleholder of Rio de Janeiro 2026 and Tokyo 2020, and the Olympic champion of Paris 2024 Erislandy Alvarez (63.5 kg) were summoned.

Alongside La Cruz and Alvarez would be Alejandro Claro (51 kg), Saidel Horta (57 kg), fifth and ninth places in the Parisian fight, in that order, and Nelson Williams (86 kg).

Even, La Cruz's opponent was already known, who would face in 10 rounds the Tajik Davlat Boltaev, bronze medalist under the five rings in Paris 2024, where he could not climb to the podium.

The outstanding fighter from Camagüey would have the possibility of defending the professional world gold belt achieved with a victory over Madiyar Saydrakhimov from Uzbekistan in a six-round decision.

Another negative aspect of the IBA's decision is that it deprived the Cuban fans of enjoying the awaited sporting spectacle (Source: ACN).
