Cuba vs Honduras

Havana, Feb 14 (JIT) - The Cuban soccer team playing in the CONCACAF Women's Under-20 Women's Qualifiers 2025, hosted by the Dominican Republic, was left with no chance of advancing.

A narrow defeat against the hosts left them with no chance of taking first place in Group C.

In their debut, the Cubans had lost 0-2 against Panama, leaving a good image against a superior opponent with much more experience.

The clash against the dominicans turned out to be almost a carbon copy of the previous one: the Cubans defended well and bet on a good position without possession of the ball.

The possession of the ball seemed tidy for the home team but they were unable to capitalize on it, largely due to the good performance of the Cuban defense and especially goalkeeper Yasmery Diaz.

At the end of the game, an unfortunate mistake in an unfortunate play led to a goal by captain Jaylen Vallecillo and the victory of the hosts in extremis, at 90+4'.

Now the locals and Panamanians will decide the first place in the section to qualify for the CONCACAF U-20 Women's Championship 2025, a qualifier for the World Cup in that category.

The team from the Greater Antilles will finish against Bonaire, and this match may represent the reward for a good tournament for the team coached by Silvio Pedro Miñoso, who have not been able to do themselves justice in spite of the remarkable progress they have shown.
