Invitation to the Women's Race Walk for International Women's Day

Havana, Mar 5 (JIT) - INDER and the Federation of Cuban Women (FMC) invite you to participate this Saturday in the Women's Race Walk for International Women's Day.

This special event will take place all over the island and will celebrate the 65th anniversary of the FMC and the 95th birthday of its historic leader, Vilma Espín Guillois.

Women of all ages will be able to participate, from children to senior citizens, as well as members of schools, workplaces, and the community in general.

The Havana circuit will start at the parking lot of the Havana Sports City, will continue along Vía Blanca, Primelles, and Santa Catalina, until returning along Boyeros and ending at Vía Blanca.

According to the information circulated by the National Commission of Marabana-Maracuba Races and Walks, the route includes two kilometers that can be covered by running or simply walking.

Participants may register for a single lap or five -which would cover 10 km- and the starting times are at 8:00 a.m. for the long distance and at 9:00 a.m. for the 2 km.

Registration is scheduled for the 7th for those who opt for the 10 km at the Marabana-Maracuba offices between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.

Those who complete the distance will qualify for Marabana 2025. Registration for the two kilometers will be the same day of the race, from 7:00 a.m. to 8:45 a.m., at the parking lot of the Sports City.

In the free category, prizes will be awarded to the first three places and to participants with motor, visual, hearing, and intellectual disabilities.

The race-walk will be held simultaneously in all provinces, municipalities, rural, and mountainous areas of the country.
