Cuba, Mar 18 (RHC) The city of Camagüey is once again hosting the National Women's Volleyball Championship, a key event to boost the development of the sport in Cuba and regain its place among the world's elite.
Cuban women's volleyball, with three Olympic gold medals in its history, today faces the challenge of returning to the world elite. This championship becomes a key scenario to identify talents, strengthen teams and prepare players for the international challenges ahead.
On the opening day, Granma showed its strength by beating Santiago de Cuba in five sets. This match, marked by intensity and high technical level, reflects the competitiveness that characterizes this tournament.
On the other hand, Camagüey, host of the event, faced difficulties in its debut after losing to the powerful team of Pinar del Río in three sets. In spite of the losses in their roster compared to the previous year, the Camagüeyanas are looking to recover in the next few days to honor their status as hosts.
In another outstanding match, Havana had to struggle to overcome Cienfuegos in four sets, after a tight first set that ended 27-25 in favor of Cienfuegos. This victory reinforces Havana's aspiration to remain among the favorites of the competition.
