Yilian Tornés

Havana, Mar 19 (JIT) Cuban pitcher Yilian Tornés made history with Diablos Rojos Femenil by winning the first game in the Queen's Series or grand final of the II Mexican Professional Softball League 2025.

The girls of the "scarlet gang", with the presence of two other players from the Island, won 7x6 against Sultanes de Monterrey Femenil.

According to the websites consulted by JIT, the experienced left-hander Tornés, who served as a starter during the regular phase, pitched a great 2.2 innings of relief on Tuesday. She came in with the game down 4x5 and just one out at the end of the fourth inning, and was able to close it without allowing any more liberties.

The Scarlets came back with three runs in the sixth inning to win the first of a best-of-three series. Tornés scored just one run in the last episode to close the game.

Cuban standouts included Guantanamo outfielder Elizabeth Robert, who drove in a run with an RBI in the fourth act.

In the key sixth inning, Granma's short stop and first batter, Leannelys Zayas, received an important base on balls, and then scored one of the three runs of the lethal cluster that ended with a home run by the American Jazmyn Jackson.

The game will resume this Wednesday at the Mobil Super Stadium, home of Sultanes de Monterrey Femenil.
