Men's National Volleyball Championship
Havana, Mar 20 (JIT) - The four teams that will dispute the final of the Men's National Volleyball Championship 2025 were defined on Wednesday, while Pinar del Rio is ahead in the elimination of the women's division.
At the Alejandro Urgellés multipurpose hall, the local Santiago de Cuba will defend the title against Villa Clara, third in 2024, with Guantánamo and Sancti Spíritus added after failing to qualify in the last competition.
From Thursday until Sunday, the teams will play against each other in a round-robin system, without the results of the elimination round being valid.
Likewise, the teams from Cienfuegos, Mayabeque, Camagüey, and Havana will play for fifth to eighth place.
Meanwhile, at the Iván Hidalgo Funes Auditorium in Camagüey, the women's elimination round is being held in a round-robin format among six teams, of which only Pinar del Río is undefeated with three wins and 14 points (9 sets in favor and one against).
Havana has also achieved three successes, but has already conceded a couple of failures, so it has 13 units with a record of 9-2 in won and lost sets.
They are followed by Granma with two wins and one loss (9/7-5), Santiago de Cuba with three losses (4/4-9), and Camagüey, 2024 champion, which this time has not been able to obtain any success in three outings.
On Wednesday, the women from Pinar del Río dominated the women from Cienfuegos and the women from Granma dominated the women from Camagüey, both in straight sets, and the women from Havana beat the women from Santiago 3-1.
On Friday, the preliminary round concludes and on Saturday's closing match, the top two teams will play for the gold medal and the bronze medal will be for the third and fourth places.
The fifth place will be disputed by the last two teams in the standings.
