Port of Spain, Mar 25 (JIT) - The Peruvian women's national under-20 soccer team is in Havana to hold friendly matches with its Cuban counterpart.

The duels will take place on the 26th and 28th, in the capital's La Polar stadium, always starting at 9:00 a.m.

Their realization derives from conversations between the federations of both countries, which also includes friendlies between the senior women's national teams.

The latter will be held in Peru, on the Fifa dates for international matches for women, on April 5 and 8.

The opportunity will be favorable to prepare the team that will participate in the World and Olympic qualifiers starting later this year.

"It is always profitable to face top-level teams such as the Peruvian one, and also appropriate to increase the range of international matches, especially before taking on the qualifying commitments this year," Miguel Angel Diaz, secretary general of the Cuban Football Association (AFC), explained to JIT.

The executive stressed the growing importance of women's participation in this discipline and said that the AFC is working hard to provide them with opportunities and encourage their competitive activity.
