Cuba's beach duo loses to Germany in Elite 16 in Mexico

Havana, Mar 27 (ACN) The Cuban duo of Noslen Diaz and Jorge Luis Alayo lost today 0-2 to the German pairing of Paul Henning-Wust in Group E of the main draw of the Elite 16 tournament of the World Beach Volleyball Pro Tour, a tournament taking place in the Mexican city of Quitana Roo.

According to the website of the International Federation www.fivb.com, Diaz and Alayo lost with scores of 20-22 and 11-21, with German superiority in the attack, 23 points to 15, blocking (6-4), and service (15-2), while those of the largest of the Antilles surrendered fewer goals due to their own errors (9-10).

Individually, Henning stood out with 19 points, 10 in attack, six in blocking, and three in service, followed by Alayo (11-6-1), Wust (15/13-0-2), and Diaz (5/4-0-1), with stage in Playa del Carmen.

This Friday, the Cubans will return to the court and will face the Swedish duo of Nilsson Holting and Paul Anderson.

Recently, Diaz and Alayo finished in fifth place in the Challenger tournament in Yucatan, Mexico, a tournament that opened the World Beach Volleyball Pro Tour 2025, after losing 0-2 (19-21 and 14-21) to the Portuguese duo of Joao Pedrosa and Hugo Campos for a place in the semifinals.
