Raidel Martínez
Havana, Apr 23 (JIT) - Cuban pitcher Raidel Martinez was credited today with his seventh save of the season in the Yomiuri Giants' 2-0 victory over the Chunichi Dragons in the Japanese Professional Baseball League 2025.
At home in the Tokyo Dome, and for the Central League, the fast right-handed closer from Pinar del Río applied the so-called "law of the ex", since until last season he was on the roster of the Dragons, with whom he signed 43 saves in 2024 to lead the entire circuit.
On Wednesday, he pitched the ninth inning with one strikeout and only one hit allowed, to keep his ERA unblemished (0.00).
So far, Raidel has played in nine games. In 8.2 innings of play, opponents have only given him four hits. He has struck out eight and given out four tickets.
In addition, he has one win and one point for hold point (entering the game and keeping the lead) and has a WHIP of 0.91.
His performance borders on excellence. He has been involved in eight of the 12 wins for Yomiuri, which ranks third in the Central League. He is truly unbeatable on the mound.
