Havana, Jun 23 (RHC) - With a total of eight medals, one of them gold in the mixed doubles event, the Cubans bid farewell to the Bridgetown 2025 Table Tennis Championship, in which they also secured qualification to upcoming international events.

After finishing with silver medals in the men's and women's teams, the Cubans won the gold medal with Daniela Fonseca and Jorge Moises Campos in a duel against their teammates Estela Crespo and Adrian Perez.

The two-time Olympians, Daniela and Jorge Moises, had left on their way to the final, where two couples were known in the area: the Dominican duo of Eva Brito-Rafael Cabrera (3-0) and the more experienced Puerto Ricans, Brianna Burgos-Angel Naranjo (3-2).

The final match had expected nuances due to how much they knew each other. Scores of 8-11, 11-6, 7-11, 11-7, and 12-10 marked the duel, in which, as is logical, the protagonists had to design their strategies since they did not have coaches in their corners, something usual when players from the same country face each other.

The fourth silver medal was won by the duo of Daniela and Estela, who lost the women's doubles final to Brianna and Alondra Rodriguez of Puerto Rico.

Liván Martínez and Jorge Moisés finished with bronze in the men's doubles, as they lost 1-3 in the semifinals against Naranjo and Oscar Birriel.

In the singles, the best performances were registered by Jorge Moises and Rosalba Aguiar with their respective third places on the podium.

As an incentive in the competition, team tickets were distributed for the 2026 World Championship and the Pan American tournament in October of the same year.

Cuba achieved both goals and also scored points as part of the qualification for the Central American and Caribbean Games in Santo Domingo 2026.
