Matanzas closed as leader of the 54th National Baseball Series, which is on hold until December 5th to enjoy the celebration in Mexico of the Central American and Caribbean Games, Veracruz 2014.

After 33 days, Matanzas leads with 22 wins and 11 losses, escorted by Granma (18-11), Artemisa (20-13), Ciego de Avila (18-14), Isla de la Juventud (17-14), Industriales (18-15), and Villa Clara (17-15) closing the vanguard group.

With fewer chances of advancing to the 2nd round, followed Guantanamo and Santiago de Cuba (16-17), Pinar del Río (14-15), Las Tunas and Holguin (14-17), Sancti Spiritus (14-18), Cienfuegos (14-19), Camaguey (12-21) and Mayabeque (11-21).

And speaking of the passion of most Cubans, Cuba officially announced its baseball team to Veracruz-2014.

The manager of the squad, Victor Mesa, told local Prensa Latina news agency that the line-up is balanced between experienced and new talent figures, changes spanning all specialties to achieve the gold medal, he said.

Pitchers:
Fredy Asiel Álvarez, Norge Luis Ruiz, Héctor Manuel Mendoza, Yoanni Yera, Yosvany Torres, Yaisel Sierra, Vladimir Gutiérrez, Julio Alfredo Martínez, Cionel Pérez and Jonder Martínez.

Coaching staff:

Victor Mesa (Manager), Alfonso Urquiola, Primitivo Díaz and Alexander Ramos (Assistants), Raicel Sánchez and Rogelio García (Pitching trainers), and Victor Figueroa (Hitting coach).

Within these regional games, the baseball tournament will take place from November 15th-21st covering 8 teams: Panama, Guatemala, Mexico, Nicaragua, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Venezuela and Cuba.

The Cuban team seeks to recover the title lost at the 2010 Games held in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico, when they did not present a team.

 

Veracruz 2014 Awards 104 Seats to Toronto 2015

The Central American and Caribbean Games, Veracruz 2014, will grant the last 104 berths to attend Toronto 2015 Pan Am Games covering 16 sport modalities, turning each of these sport disciplines into a battlefield for the honored sites.

After the Pan American Sports Festival, held a couple of months ago in 9 states of the Mexican country, now is the Mesoamerican appointment the one that will grant the other berths.

Handball, cycling in its 4 modalities that are within the Central American program, as well as triathlon and bowling are sports that, although their selection processes were already lived, they still grant the last quotas.

 

The CDRs Award Participants to Veracruz 2014

The athletes' houses in Mayabeque province participating in Veracruz 2014 Games, already possess the allegoric Central-American Family Seal, awarded by local CDRs to recognize and pay tribute to those taking part in the regional multi-sport event.

Faced with relatives, neighbors and INDER officials, athletes expressed their commitment to place Cuba in a prominent place and return home with the Medal of Dignity.

By a closely joint effort, CDR and INDER plan major initiatives for hosting sporting delegations throughout the country, a scheduled celebration from the 1st week of the current month.
