Mexico, August 16 (RCH/TELESUR)--A group of armed men abducted over a dozen people early on Monday from the popular Mexican tourist destination of Puerto Vallarta, authorities said.
Eduardo Almaguer, the attorney general of the state of Jalisco, said on his Twitter account that he was personally in Puerto Vallarta heading the investigation into the kidnapping.
The state attorney's office reported later in the afternoon that, according to eyewitnesses, men had arrived in two vehicles and had proceeded to kidnap a group of people from a restaurant. Local media said at least 16 people were kidnapped from the upscale restaurant La Leche, and that the hooded kidnappers had specifically targeted a man in a red T-shirt who was with his bodyguards.
