Washington, August 27 (RHC)-- A recent poll in the United Stats found that five percent of Americans voters would cast their ballot for Harambe, a dead gorilla, if he ran as a presidential candidate in the 2016 elections.
Conducted by Public Policy Polling, the poll asked 1,276 likely voters about their various political stances, including their opinions on Barack Obama, Tim Kaine, and Harambe — the infamous gorilla who was shot and killed by a zooworker in Cincinnati, Ohio in May.
Forty-eight percent of respondents said they would vote for Hillary Clinton, while 43 percent said they would vote for Donald Trump. Four percent said they didn't know how they would vote for, answering “not sure” -- while five percent chose Harambe the Gorilla as an independent candidate.
According to reports from Washington, the polling firm often uses “joke independent candidates” as a measure of comparison -- and to see if the American voter is actually paying attention to the polls. Political observers say that many times, voters respond to the surveys to show their discontent with the candidates running for political office.
Among other findings, the poll also discovered that 36 percent of respondents believe that Hillary Clinton should be put in prison. But Donald Trump fared no better: 51 percent of respondents said he cannot be trusted on national security issues, and 62 percent think he should release his tax returns.
