Mexico City, December 17 (RHC-PL)-- The Zapatista Army of National Liberation (EZLN) reported that 11 countries have so far confirmed their presence at the meeting of the Zapatistas and ConCiencias por la Humanidad, to be held in the Mexican state of Chiapas.

The event, to be held from December 25 to January 4 in San Cristóbal de Las Casas will be attended by 82 scientists.

A statement, signed by Subcomandante Moisés, indicates that scientists from Canada, Chile, Germany, the United States, Spain, Israel, Paraguay, the United Kingdom, Uruguay, Brazil and Mexico have registered.

The areas in which they perform, he explained, are quantum field theory, mathematics, volcanology, astrophysics, astronomy, cosmology, nuclear fusion, genetics, microbiology, statistical physics, optics and bioethics.

There are also specialists in biophysics, evolutionary and marine biology, among others, he added, saying that the meeting will have general sessions, talks and workshops.
