Rome, July 12 (RHC)-- Protesters chained themselves to the front steps of the ministry of transport in Rome on Wednesday morning over the migration policy of Interior Minister Matteo Salvini, namely the closure of ports to migrants arriving over the Mediterranean.
Footage shows police and firefighters cutting chains with bolt cutters and carrying the protesters away as they shout slogans.
Salvini recently gained notoriety for his hardline stance on migration and his decision to close Italian ports to the migrant rescue ship Aquarius, which was eventually allowed to dock in Spain.
