Lakhdar Brahim Announces Possible 3rd Round of Talks on Syrian Crisis

Kuwait, March 27 (RHC-Agencies) - United Nations-Arab League envoy for Syria, Lakhdar Brahimi, announced Wednesday, that a third round of talks between the parties to the conflict in Syria, will possibly be held to reach a consensus solution to the crisis, which is in its 4th. year.

“Intense contacts are underway between several countries, including the United States, Russia and Arab countries, to restart talks as part of Geneva II process,” Algeria Press Service (APS) reported, quoting Brahimi as saying on the sidelines of the 25th Arab Summit in Kuwait.

Brahimi reaffirmed that “the Syrian crisis can’t be solved militarily, and that the only alternative is a political solution.”

"The Declaration of Geneva II encompasses enough elements, to reach an agreement between the government and the opposition,” the UN official said.
