Caracas, June 18 (RHC)-- Venezuelan authorities have denounced a complex corruption and conspiracy network in opposition sectors that are manipulating the alleged humanitarian aid collected in Cucuta, Colombia Communications and Information Minister Jorge Rodriguez posted on his Twitter account details of the appropriation of funds for supporters of the illegally self-proclaimed president Juan Guaido.

According to the news outlet PanAm Post, an undetermined number of soldiers from Venezuela’s armed forces have crossed into Colombia, beginning to arrive in late February, as Guaido's so-called 'humanitarian aid was prevented from entering Venezuela.  PamAm reports that representatives of Guaido, the leader of Venezuela's opposition-controlled National Assembly, used funds intended to pay for the cost of the troops' hotels in the Colombian border city of Cucuta and for personal purchases.

Jorge Rodriguez wrote: "On March 23rd, we denounced Guaido's gigantic corruption plot with money sent to Cucuta to recruit hit men."  Two opposition representatives, identified as Rossana Barrera and Kevin Rojas, members of the Voluntad Popular party and designated to attend to Venezuelan military defectors, were recently revealed by the U.S. media as implicated in the diversion of funds.

Authorities from the Venezuelan government had warned of the corruption plans with the clandestine operation, revealed after the arrest of Roberto Marrero, Guaido's right-hand man.  

Over the weekend, the news channel teleSUR confirmed that 60 percent of the food in the 'humanitarian aid' was rotten.  A communique from Colombia's National Disaster Risk Management System reported the humanitarian aid would be distributed by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) to Venezuelans who left their country and are now in Colombia.
