Washington, January 13 (RHC)-- U.S. Defense Secretary Mark Esper has acknowledged he did not see specific evidence that Iranian General Qassem Soleimani was planning attacks against U.S. embassies -- directly contradicting U.S. President Donald Trump.

Esper said that at the time U.S. forces assassinated the Iranian general, he had not seen any proof of an immiment attack.  The Pentagon chief said he agreed with Trump, but that he couldn't offer a specific piece of evidence.  Esper said: “I didn’t see one with regard to four embassies.  What I’m saying is I share the president’s view that probably, my expectation was, they were going to go after our embassies.”
