La Paz, March 31 (RHC)-- Bolivia’s health minister has announced the country's first six deaths due to COVID-19.  To date, Bolivia has registered 107 positive cases, according to Aníbal Cruz, the coup government's minister of health.

According to the de facto government, Bolivians should undertake a number of preventive measures, including social isolation, elderly care and good hygiene.  In the region of Cochabamba, local news media reported that authorities are implementing legislation to enforce praying as a way to prevent the virus.  The law proposes "fasting," "prayer" and repentance of sins as a way to find a "unique" way to overcome the global coronavirus pandemic.

"As a people we feel for our sins and evil, for which we ask God's forgiveness, calling all the population of Cochabamba to fast and pray during this time of quarantine," states the final provision of the legal text, published in local newspapers.  Cochabamba is the second region with the most positive cases.
