New Delhi, May 5 (RHC)-- India has extended its nationwide lockdown, affecting 1.3 billion people, for another two weeks, after reporting a record rate of new coronavirus cases.
India has now rolled out a contact tracing app that uses Bluetooth and location services to track people’s movements. Use of the app will be mandatory for all public and private sector workers.
The Internet Freedom Foundation warns the app is a “privacy minefield” that could become a permanent surveillance tool even after the pandemic recedes.
