Bogota, July 15 (RHC)-- Former combatants of the demobilized Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia-People's Army (FARC-EP) began on Wednesday to leave the areas of reincorporation due to the violence against them.

The massive forced displacement was generated after multiple killings of colleagues and family members following the signing of the 2016 peace accords with the government of then Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos.

Pastor Alape Lascarro, delegate of the Revolutionary Alternative Force of the Common (FARC) party to the National Council of Reincorporation (CNR), reported on his Twitter account that he began the displacement activity from the community of Santa Lucía, in Ituango, located 195 kilometers from Medellín, the capital of Antioquia department, to the neighboring municipality of Mutatá.

He said that in the afternoon of Tuesday, the first five of 11 trucks arrived in Ituango, to carry the belongings of some 93 ex-combatants and their families.

The FARC party denounced last Monday that to date there are already 218 ex-combatants of the FARC-EP who have been killed since 2016, when the Peace Accords were signed in Havana.

The Commission for the follow-up, promotion and verification of the implementation of the Peace Accord of the FARC Party (CSIVI-FARC) also stated in a tweet that "the peace signatories settled in Ituango-Antioquia are preparing for a massive displacement in search of hope, after suffering multiple murders of their comrades and relatives, they continue to be committed to peace and what has been agreed."
