Beirut, August 4 (RHC)-- Two strong explosions were recorded on Tuesday afternoon in the Lebanese capital, Beirut, where dozens of people have been killed, thousands more were injured and there was considerable material damage.
The images published on social networks show the magnitude of the event.
Health Minister Hamad Hassan initially attributed the explosions to a ship carrying fireworks. However, the relevant authorities ruled out the version of the fireworks.
Lebanon's head of internal security, Abbas Ibrahim, stated that a massive explosion in the port area of Beirut occurred in a section that housed "highly explosive" materials, and not just explosives as previously reported by the state news agency.
