Bogota, August 4 (RHC)-- The Colombian Supreme Court on Tuesday ordered house arrest for Alvaro Uribe Velez, in an historic move in the South American country as he became the first former president to be arrest on a bribery case.
The decision must be notified immediately and comes into effect this Tuesday, although the former president still has a legal remedy to which he can appeal.
The high court's decision has to do with the allegations that Uribe had bribed former paramilitaries to change their testimonies and not to involve them in the extinct self-defense groups.
