La Paz, October 14 (RHC)-- The candidate for the Presidency of Bolivia for the Movement to Socialism-Political Instrument for the Sovereignty of the Peoples (MAS-IPSP), Luis Arce, assured that "we must recover the homeland" during the closing ceremony of the national campaign in the city of El Alto.
"The Bolivian people trust in the candidacy of the people, the people have shown firmness, the people today are aware of what we are going through," said Arce before a crowd of supporters, whom he thanked for "so much love and support."
Arce affirmed that the country is "without democracy" and immersed in a "deep economic crisis," after having lived a process of economic recovery during the governments led by former President Evo Morales since 2016. "The country was broken when we came to power," he said.
In this respect, the Bolivian leader recalled that the management of the MAS at the head of Bolivia achieved "the best economic and social indicators of the country," however, he stressed that "today we have the same challenge because they are going to give us a broken country, without resources."
"We are the only guarantee of social policy," said the MAS candidate, while warning that it is necessary to "guarantee employment and income for the Bolivian family" to give back to the people what is their right.
Likewise, Arce denounced the campaign of disinformation that the right wing is waging against the MAS by sending messages to the cell phones of several base police and soldiers in the military service, alleging a supposed elimination of these security groups if the political formation comes to power.
The Movement Towards Socialism (MAS) ended its electoral campaign with the promise of its presidential candidate, Luis Arce, to bring Bolivia out of the crisis.
Arce spoke at a massive and jubilant rally in Senkata, a neighborhood in the neighboring city of El Alto, where a massacre took place in November 2019, when soldiers and police opened fire on an anti-coup rally and killed at least 15 civilians.
He paid tribute to the fallen in Senkata and in the town of Sacaba and El Porvenir, whom he called heroes of democracy and said that the victory in next Sunday's elections will also be the triumph of the fallen.
He recalled that MAS took over the government in 2006 and found, as it does today, a broken country, with no future, no money, no resources and we worked day and night, risking our lives to move the country forward.
He recalled that this government obtained the best economic and social indicators in history. Today, he said, MAS is once again facing the same challenge, a broken country, without resources and without democracy, as the de facto regime has left in only 11 months.
