Tehran, October 26 (RHC)-- Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif says the United States has spent most of its history in war and does not hesitate to wage economic and military wars against those who do not submit to its whims.

Zarif made the remarks in a Monday tweet ahead of an address to the UN later in the day on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the world body’s establishment.  Noting that the United States has spent 220 years of its 244-year history in war, Iran’s top diplomat urged the world body to take measures to “contain its host.”

“UN@75 should contain its host, which spent 220 of its 244-year year history in war, & since 1945 alone waged—& mostly lost—39 military & 120 economic wars vs anyone refusing to submit to its whims,” he added.

According to a new study, since 2001 -- ironically, the “United Nation’s Year of Dialogue Among Civilizations” -- 37 million people have been displaced as a result of the US “Forever Wars,” Zarif said later on Monday in his speech to the UN.

“The eight violent wars that the U.S. initiated or joined since 2001 -- under the rubric of “War on Terror” -- have resulted in the loss of hundreds of thousands of innocent lives, countless broken societies and families, failed and failing states and unprecedented extremism,” he added, noting: “Ironically, it keeps losing its “Forever Wars.”
