Buenos Aires, December 27 (RHC)-- The president of Argentina, Alberto Fernandez, agreed this Saturday to begin the process of vaccination with Sputnik V next Tuesday, the 29th, after holding a virtual meeting with the governors of the 24 jurisdictions.

During the meeting, the head of state informed all the governors that the 300,000 doses of the Russian vaccine will be distributed in all the provinces of the country beginning Monday.

The president affirmed that in view of the requirement that the doses be kept at a temperature of 18 degrees below zero, they will be transported in trucks with special refrigeration.  However, in the provinces of Santa Cruz and Tierra del Fuego, Sputnik V will be transported by air.

"The idea is that when the fall comes, we will have vaccinated as many people at risk, that is my goal (...) for now, we must take care and that our fellow countrymen understand that the risk is latent, we must avoid crowds," said President Fernandez.

In the meeting with the governors, the president was accompanied by his Minister of the Interior, Eduardo de Pedro, and his Minister of Health, Ginés González García.

The 300,000 doses of the Sputnik V vaccine that arrived in Argentina this past week will be given in a first stage to health personnel.

The vaccination plan will have 116,000 members of the vaccination teams, including vaccinators and support staff, and 7,749 health facilities equipped to vaccinate, in addition to 10,000 volunteers who will be added through the Activar Program.
