Brazil hits record number of COVID-19 infections in 7 days

Brazil opened 2021 with more than 22,000 infections and 445 new deaths from coronavirus.  

Brasilia, March 2 (RHC)-- According to data from the Brazilian Council of State Health Secretariats (Conass), the country registered, in the last seven days,1,205 deaths due to the coronavirus, which implied a record in the Brazilian country.

For its part, the Brazilian Ministry of Health said Monday on its official website that Brazil recorded a total of 10 million 587,001 people who have contracted the coronavirus. In the last 24 hours, 778 deaths were recorded in official systems, with 1,131 deaths occurring in the last three days.  Another 2,811 remain under observation," the health institution said.

In the state of São Paulo, a total of 2 million 044. 699 people infected with the disease and a total of 59,546 deaths are registered. It is followed by the states of Minas Gerais with 883,105 sick people and Bahia with 686,057 registrations.

At the same time, the federal deputy of the Socialism and Freedom Party for the state of Rio de Janeiro, Marcelo Freixo stressed this Monday on his Twitter account that "Jair Bolsonaro stopped using 22.3 billion reais that were reserved for the purchase of vaccines in 2020.  With this money, we could buy 1.3 billion doses from AstraZeneca.  It's not just incompetence (...) The president wants to prevent Brazilians from getting vaccinated."
