Brasilia, March 21 (RHC)-- The Public Ministry of Brazil requested to the Court of Auditors of the Union (TCU) the impeachment of President Jair Bolsonaro by the vice president, Hamilton Mourão, during the management of the pandemic.
According to the deputy attorney general of the Public Prosecutor's Office of the Federal Court of Accounts, Lucas Furtado pointed out that Bolsonaro's mismanagement will cause damage to public coffers if there is no service to the population during the pandemic.
The Prosecutor's Office requests the TCU to: "Cautiously dismiss the President of the Republic from administrative and hierarchical functions and powers related to the command of the Ministries of Health, Finance, Civil House and others eventually identified as responsible for inertia and omission in the implementation of public health policies in combating the pandemic Covid-19 ".
Lucas Furtado also wants the TCU to recognize "the legitimacy, administrative competence and authority" of Mourão to appoint the authorities responsible for the ministries.
In the request to the TCU, Furtado argues that it is urgent to adopt measures that induce a "minimum level of effectiveness" to act on the part of the federal agencies in charge of health services.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, Bolsonaro has contradicted the guidelines of specialists and public health authorities.
Jair Bolsonaro has dismissed and criticized World Health Organization recommendations such as the use of masks and other isolation measures to deal with Covid-19.
