Caracas, April 19 (RHC)-- Venezuelan Foreign Minister Jorge Arreaza received in Caracas the Executive Director of the United Nations World Food Program, David Beasley.
According to media sources, the visit is designed to strengthen cooperation between the South American country and the multilateral UN agency. When welcoming Beasley, the Venzuelan foreign minister ratified that the purpose of his visit is also aimed at strengthening diplomatic ties.
Earlier, President Nicolás Maduro said that he would meet with the director of the World Food Program to establish strategic lines in terms of food security. "Today (Sunday) the director of the United Nations Food Program arrived in the country. On Monday, we will meet with him to sign several agreements. Venezuela receives you with affection," said the head of state.
Despite the illegal economic, financial and commercial sanctions imposed by the United States (US) on Venezuela, the country continues to strengthen its international relations with nations and international organizations.
