Protesters identified among victims of massacre in Cali, Colombia

Bogota, May 26 (RHC)-- Colombian alternative media confirmed Tuesday that the discovery of two bodies in the municipality of Palmira, department of Valle del Cauca are two young people who participated in the National Strike in the Siloé neighborhood, located in the city of Cali.

The information provided indicates that the victims were part of the so-called "Front Line," a group of demonstrators resisting the repression perpetrated by agents of the Mobile Anti-Riot Squad (ESMAD) in the framework of the National Strike.

With this confirmation, the alert is evidenced in the report of the Legal and Humanitarian Team 21 N, of the Justice and Dignity Corporation, and the Inter-Church Commission for Justice and Peace, who point out that in Cali demonstrators disappear and are later found in neighboring municipalities.

In declarations to teleSUR, the friend of one of the victims found in the Cali-Palmira straight, Carlos Sierra, assured that the young man "was murdered by the State and they took them as a false positive, which is what is happening in Colombia at this time."  This is in reference to the first report of what happened, indicating that the deaths were a result of a traffic accident, but the Prosecutor's Office investigation showed that they were murdered.

The investigation by human rights organizations also warns that there are sites used as mass graves. | Photo: Colprensa
