Morena wins the majority of seats in the Mexican Chamber of Deputies

Mexico City, June 7 (RHC)-- Mexico's National Electoral Institute (INE) has issued a preliminary report saying that President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador's National Regeneration Movement (Morena) party leads the vote for the Chamber of Deputies and would reach between 190 and 203 legislators.

In a message on national TV, the president of INE, Lorenzo Córdova, released the data of the quick count of the election for the Federal Chamber of Deputies, which is made up of 300 deputies of relative majority and 200 of proportional representation.

The President of INE indicated that the percentage of participation in this Sunday's elections was between 51.7 and 52.5 percent of the electoral roll.  After clarifying that the results offered are preliminary and that the official results may be known as of Wednesday, Córdova noted that Morena obtained a voting range for deputies that goes from 34.9 to 35.8 percent, which would assure it between 190 and 203 legislators.

The right-wing National Action Party (PAN) would achieve a voting range of between 18.5 and 19.3 percent, for between 106 and 117 seats.

The former ruling Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) would manage 63 to 75 seats (between 17.8 and 18.5 percent of the vote) and the Party of the Democratic Revolution (PRD) 12 to 21 deputies, after obtaining between 3.5 and 3.9 percent of the votes cast on Sunday.

The quick count showed that the Green Party (PV) would be represented in the lower chamber with between 40 and 48 legislators, while the Labor Party (PT) would have 35 to 41 parliamentarians, the Citizen Movement from 20 to 27 and the Social Encounter Party (PES) would add six seats.

Previously, Mexican official Córdova indicated that the Preliminary Electoral Results Program began operations as planned and will be in operation for the next 24 hours.
