Paraguay reports more than 150 coronavirus deaths in 24 hours

Asuncion, June 28 (RHC)-- Paraguay reported on Sunday 152 deaths due to coronavirus in the last 24 hours, marking the highest number of deaths since the beginning of the pandemic.

According to the Ministry of Health, the number of deaths in the South American country reached 12,517.  Paraguay recorded consecutive days of record numbers, with 150 deaths on Saturday and 152 on Sunday, totaling 302 deaths over the weekend.

In the last 24 hours, 1,487 new infections were also confirmed, bringing the total number of positive coronavirus cases to 418,330 since March 2020.

On Monday, Paraguay will begin to vaccinate people aged 50 years and older and expects to receive new deliveries of anticovirus vaccines throughout the month of July.  According to the Ministry of Health, more than 665,000 people have received at least one dose of the coronavirus vaccine in Paraguay since February 2022, when the immunization plan was launched.
