Port-au-Prince, July 18 (RHC)-- The first lady of Haiti, Martine Moïse, returned Saturday to the country after the assassination perpetrated against her husband and president of the nation, Jovenel Moïse on July 5 in Port-au-Prince.
Martine Moïse, who was shot three times when her husband was assassinated, arrived in the country after receiving medical attention in Miami. The first lady was received at the airport by the interim Prime Minister, Claude Joseph.
The first lady will attend the funeral of President Jovenel to be held on July 23 in the commune of Cap-Haitien, located in the north of the country.
On July 14, Martine thanked the medical personnel for their attention and regretted the assassination of her husband. "I still do not believe that my husband has gone before my eyes like this without saying a last word to me. This pain will never pass," she added.
The first lady of the Haitian nation becomes a key piece to testify on the assassination of Jovenel Moïse, last July 10 Martine denounced that the motive for the assassination of the president was to prevent the celebration of the referendum of September 26, where the intention was to modify the Constitution.
After it was confirmed that Martine was wounded after the assassination of the head of state, she was transferred by ambulance plane to the Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport, north of Miami, where she was treated for the serious injuries she suffered in the attack in which the president was assassinated.
