United Nations, August 25 (RHC)-- The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in Colombia revealed on Monday that in the first semester of 2021 the number of displaced people in that country grew by 191 percent compared to the same period in 2020; while the number of those confined rose to 100 percent.

There are nearly 45,000 people who have been victims of forced displacement, some 11,000 families.   The Office of the multilateral organization also details that the number of people confined in this period of time exceeded 39,900 people, most of them unable to move from their territories as a result of the confrontations between warring sides.

The report indicates that the humanitarian impact on the population originates mainly in the departments of the Pacific and Northwestern regions of the nation; areas of Nariño, Valle del Cauca and Cauca, Antioquia, Córdoba and Chocó concentrate 86 percent of the displaced, which makes them highly dangerous.
