Negotiations between the Venezuelan government and the opposition are being held under the auspices of the Kingdom of Norway and with the accompaniment of Russia and the Netherlands.
Mexico City, September 24 (RHC)-- The delegations of the Venezuelan government and the opposition have begun the third round of dialogues in the Mexican capital with the mediation of Norway.
The head of the Government delegation, Jorge Rodríguez, declared that in this new round of negotiations the return of assets stolen from the South American country abroad will be requested.
On the other hand, the opposition indicated that the talks, which will culminate on September 27, will focus on the justice system in Venezuela. In the past two rounds, the parties agreed on the ratification and defense of Venezuela's sovereignty over Guayana Esequiba, as well as agreements related to the social protection of Venezuelans.
At the end of the second meeting in the Mexican capital, the delegations issued a communiqué in which they announced that negotiations are still ongoing and that the next topic to be discussed would be the respect for the constitutional rule of law.
The objective of the new round of dialogues is to reach agreements that will allow the holding of elections, the lifting of economic sanctions and the establishment of ways for social and political coexistence, among other points.
Negotiations between the Venezuelan government and the opposition have been held under the auspices of the Kingdom of Norway and with the accompaniment of Russia and the Netherlands since they were inaugurated on August 13 with the signing of a memorandum of understanding by which the parties expressed their willingness to negotiate intensively, comprehensively and peacefully.
