Washington, November 12 (RHC)-- The number of daily U.S. coronavirus cases is once again on the rise, after nearly two months of declines from September’s peak. States reported nearly 100,000 new infections on Wednesday and over 1,600 new deaths.
In other COVID news, in the U.S. state of Texas, a federal judge has ruled that Republican Governor Greg Abbott’s ban on mask mandates in schools violates the rights of disabled students, who are at increased risk of hospitalization and death from COVID-19.
A lawyer for Disability Rights Texas said in a statement: “No student should be forced to make the choice of forfeiting their education or risking their health, and now they won’t have to.”
Meanwhile, Republican attorneys general from 10 states filed a lawsuit seeking to block the Biden administration’s COVID-19 vaccine mandate for healthcare workers. This comes just days after a federal appeals court temporarily blocked President Biden’s vaccine mandate for large businesses.
