Peru exceeds 200,000 deaths due to the coronavirus

Lima, November 23 (RHC)-- Peru surpassed 200,000 deaths due to COVID-19 on Monday, while the number of contagions reached more than 2.2 million.  According to the Peruvian Ministry of Health, in the last 24 hours 447 new cases and only ten deaths were reported, reaching 2,225,117 positive infections, while the number of deaths reached 200,894.

The new number of infections and deaths in the country occurred while the Government is advancing in the massive vaccination campaign, under which it has applied 39,847,356 injections against COVID-19.

In this sense, the Peruvian entity indicated that 17,404,581 people have received the two corresponding doses, which is equivalent to 62 percent of the fully immunized target population. 

The Health Ministry also reported that, to date, 19,964,326 tests have been processed, with 2,225,117 confirmed cases and 17,739,209 negative results.  The Ministry of Health also indicated that, of the total number of positive cases, 2,205,275 people have completed their home isolation period or have been discharged.
