The Joe Biden administration has accelerated the expansion of new oil and gas wells in the United States, issuing drilling permits on public lands at a faster pace than under President Trump.

Washington, December 8 (RHC)-- The Joe Biden administration has accelerated the expansion of new oil and gas wells in the United States, issuing drilling permits on public lands at a faster pace than under President Trump.

According to a new report by Public Citizen, the Bureau of Land Management has approved an average of 333 oil and gas drilling permits per month under Biden—40% faster than it did in the first three years of Trump’s presidency.

This comes despite a campaign promise Biden made during a 2020 debate with Bernie Sanders.  At that time, Biden said: “No more drilling on federal lands, no more drilling, including offshore, no ability for the oil industry to continue to drill, period.”

Meanwhile, a new study finds the world’s biggest fossil fuel companies have made $174 billion in profits during the first nine months of 2021.
