Lula holds meeting with president of the Brazilian Senate

Brasilia, July 14 (RHC)-- The former president of Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, held on Wednesday a meeting with the president of the Senate of that country, Rodrigo Pacheco, in the framework of the upcoming elections in the South American nation.

The federal deputy for the state of Paraná and national president of the Workers' Party (PT), Gleisi Hoffmann, highlighted that this meeting was held to coordinate actions before the beginning of the electoral campaign.

"Parliamentarians from the parties that make up our coalition and also from other parties met with Lula and Alckimin to organize the start of the electoral campaign," she specified through her account on the social network Twitter.  He also reiterated that they need a large bench in Congress to help Lula rebuild Brazil.

The meeting was held at the Official Senate Residence and was attended by the former governor of Sao Paulo, Geraldo Alckmin (Lula's running mate); the Senate minority leader, Jean Paul Prates; as well as the PT leader in the Senate, Paulo Rocha.

Several senators were also present, among them Alexandre Silveira, Paulo Paim, Fabiano Contarato, Jaques Wagner, Humberto Costa, Rogério Carvalho, Dário Berger, Nilda Gondim, Veneziano Vital do Rêgo and Zenaide Maia.

Lula has reiterated that, if elected again as president of the country, he will work hand in hand with the population to rebuild the country and guarantee the rights of all, promoting measures for the welfare of Brazilians.
