United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres said the Paris climate accord’s goal of limiting global temperature rise to 1.5 degrees Celsius above preindustrial levels was on “life support.”

Berlin, July 20 (RHC)-- United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres said the Paris climate accord’s goal of limiting global temperature rise to 1.5 degrees Celsius above preindustrial levels was on “life support.”

Speaking at a climate conference in Berlin, Secretary-General António Guterres said: “No nation is immune.  Yet we continue to feed our fossil fuel addiction.  What troubles me most is that, in facing this global crisis, we are failing to work together as a multilateral community.  Nations continue to play the blame game instead of taking responsibility for our collective futures.”
