Buenos Aires, July 25 (Telam-RHC) –- Argentinian President Cristina Fernandez reiterated that her country "will not go into default" because it did pay the bondholders of its restructured debt “in due time and form.”
She also warned that if there is an arrangement with the vulture funds beyond what was agreed during the 2005 and 2010 swaps, "the reductions obtained" by former President Nestor Kirchner will fall.
The President spoke during the inauguration of the new industrial plant of Yamaha, the Japanese corporation, in the municipality of General Rodriguez, which will manufacture new lines of motorcycles.
According to the Poliarquia polling agency, in recent weeks there has been an increase in the level of popular acceptance to the way the Government is handling the current conflict with the vulture funds.
The latest survey by Poliarquia shows that 47 percent of those polled had a “positive” opinion on the Government policy (a 9 percent increase, compared to the previous poll in June), while 21 percent had a “fair” opinion and 25 percent voiced a “negative” point of view.
During his daily press round, Cabinet Chief Jorge Capitanich held that in its conflict with the vulture funds, "Argentina defends its sovereignty and dignity."
