Brasilia, July 30 (RHC)-- The Workers' Party (PT) and the Socialist Party of Brazil (PSB), made official this Friday the presidential candidacy formula of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and Geraldo Alckmin, during the convention of the latter formation in the southern hotel sector of Brasilia.

The electoral formula, favorite to win in the next elections according to all polls, was confirmed unanimously and in the presence of both candidates, deputies of both parties, as well as other political formations that make up the coalition of support to former president Lula.

In this sense, the national president of the PSB, Carlos Siqueira, said about the announcement that "in the name of simplicity, discretion, competence, capacity, the governor Geraldo Alckmin to compose the vice-presidency of the Republic with President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva."

Lula acknowledged the support of the signatories of the manifesto for democracy, which already has almost 400,000 signatures and will be read on August 11, at the Law School of USP, in Largo de São Francisco, downtown São Paulo.

He added that "I never imagined, at 76 years of age, with more than 50 years of participation in the union movement and in political parties, that we would see a president of the Republic lying to ambassadors and giving a false idea that democracy is at risk in Brazil because of electronic ballot boxes.  The idea that there will be theft in these elections," referring to the maneuvers of President Jair Bolsonaro to try to boycott the elections.

"This country will only succeed if it returns to growth to generate more jobs and better salaries", said Lula while denouncing the current Executive for exacerbating the levels of hunger and unemployment in that South American country.

While Alckmin expressed that "it is time for Bolsonaro to leave. His time is over. His ideas and concepts do not serve the country.  His lies no longer hold water. His cunning plan against democracy has failed.  And the ballot boxes will rid Brazil of all the evil he caused."

Meanwhile, Deputy Jandira Feghali, vice-president of the PCdoB said about the Lula-Alckmin union that "it has been a construction that expresses the maturity of all these parties in this moment we are living. It is not an easy moment, it is not a simple moment, but it demanded from us an open head, a broad head, to build this unity, which more than anything else is a necessity for Brazil and for those who have love for our people and our country".

During the date, it was reported that Andreia Nunes decided to withdraw her candidacy to express her support to the Lula-Alckmin ticket; the same as several political and congressional sectors, which in turn have shown their dissatisfaction towards the decisions and attitudes of the current head of state, Jair Bolsonaro.
