Brasilia, August 8 (RHC)-- Workers' Party (PT) candidate Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva maintains the lead over incumbent Jair Bolsonaro ahead of Brazil's presidential elections, a new poll published Monday.

According to the results of the BTG/FSB telephone survey, Lula has 41 percent of the voting intention while Bolsonaro has 34 percent of the ballots in favor.   Similarly, the Workers' Party leader would win with 51 percent of the vote in the second round against 39 percent predicted for the current Brazilian head of state.

At the same time, the survey pointed out that with these figures, Lula would not triumph in the first round. He is followed by Ciro Gomez and Simone Tebet with seven and one percent of the votes, respectively.

The BTG/FSB survey was applied to a sample of 2,000 people during the period from August 5 to 7th.  It also presents a margin of error of 2 percentage points.

On the other hand, pollster Datafolha revealed in its latest survey that the former Brazilian president beats Bolsonaro by 18 points, meanwhile, the Genial/Quaest poll conducted last week shows Lula with a 12-point lead.

According to a Quaest Consultancy poll conducted last Wednesday, the leftist candidate had 44 percent of the voting intention, a superior advantage against 32 percent in favor of the current president.
