Russian government appreciates Lukashenko's mediation in resolving the insurgency situation
Moscow, Jun 25 (RHC) Moscow highly appreciates the mediation efforts Belarus President Aleksander Lukashenko made to resolve the situation with the armed insurgency in Russia, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Saturday.
"The two leaders agreed that President Lukashenko would mediate in the situation with the private military company Wagner, and we appreciate this readiness," the spokesman conveyed.
Peskov added that the situation with the rebellion will not affect the course of Russia's special military operation in Ukraine. Our fighters on the frontline show heroism, and repel the counter-offensive of the Ukrainian Armed Forces very effectively, he stressed.
As for the legal status of the rebels, the Russian presidential spokesman said that the criminal case against the head of the private military company Wagner, Evgeny Prigozhin, will be closed, and he will go to Belarus.
Meanwhile, the other Wagner fighters who took part in the mutiny will not be prosecuted, taking into account their merits at the front, Peskov said. (Source: Prensa Latina).
