Brasilia, July 5 (RHC)-- Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva has enacted a law that guarantees equal pay for men and women who perform the same function in the labor market.

Lula da Silva indicated that he will ensure compliance with the new law with the collaboration of prosecutors from the Ministry of Labor and the Ministry of Women's Affairs. The new legislation establishes that the criteria of equal salary and remuneration are mandatory for women and men; for performing work of equal value or performing the same function.
The Brazilian president approved three bills on women's rights, including equal pay for women and men. Lula emphasized that inequality in Brazil is not normal and that they will do what is necessary for the application and respect of the new legislation.
