Vilnius, July 12 (RHC)-- Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky attended his first NATO-Ukraine Council meeting on Wednesday at the NATO summit in Vilnius, Lithuania. On Tuesday, NATO said it planned to grant Ukraine membership in the future, but did not offer a timetable.
Zelensky blasted the lack of clear timeline as “absurd,” as he has been intensely lobbying for expedited accession into the military alliance.
NATO chief Jens Stoltenberg said today the “most urgent task” is to supply Ukraine with enough weapons to fight against the Russian invasion. Zelensky also met with Joe Biden on Wednesday, who opposed immediate membership for Ukraine.
