Bogota, July 31 (RHC)-- Colombia's Institute for Development and Peace Studies (Indepaz) denounced the murder of Brayan Estiven Charrupi Carabali, a signatory of the 2016 peace agreement, who advanced his reincorporation process in the department of Cauca, located in the southwest of the country, and was currently developing agricultural work.
The signatory was murdered and his body abandoned on the side of the road in the verada Las Torres, rural area of the municipality of Santander de Quilichao. Charrupi Carabali is the 380th signatory killed since the 2016 peace accords and the 24th so far in 2023.
The Defensoría del Pueblo has issued the early warning alert 019/22 for municipalities Santander de Quilichao, Buenos Aires and Caldono, in which points out a dispute between groups armed illegal armed that aggravates even more risk scenario in the North Cauca.
Different groups are present in the area, such as the Dagoberto López Front, the Jaime Martínez Front of the Western Block, the ELN and other local gangs.
